About 50 monitoring sites set up in the project area, collecting more than 5 million entries of basic data about environmental conditions.

On December 10, 2014, “Research on Environmental Conditions for Wind Generators Serving in the Humid Tropical Coastal Area of China”, an open subject project of offshore wind power generation technology and test of Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Group undertaken by CEI State Key Laboratory of Environmental Adaptability for Industrial Products (“SKL” for short) was successfully approved after being reviewed by the panel of experts of Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Group.

In 2012, SKL signed a two-year project agreement with Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Group. To meet the needs of developing offshore wind power by Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Group, research on serving environmental conditions in humid tropical coastal area of China for wind power units was carried out foresightedly to analyze the impacts of harsh environmental conditions near the ocean on wind power units.

Since the implementation of this project, SKL distributed more than 50 5WM offshore wind generators along the coast of Fuzhou for XEMC Windpower (Fujian) with over 5 million entries of basic data for environmental conditions. It also acquired data of both big serving environment and micro serving environment of offshore wind generators after analysis. Combined with environmental failure behavior of humid tropical coastal wind generators, the key environmental factors causing product failure was determined and professional and practical counter measures for environmental failure were brought up finally. Based on the data of this project, SKL also jointly formulated Environmental Conditions for Wind Power Generating Equipment NB/T31060-2014, an energy industry standard with Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Group.

The implementation of this project has enhanced the R&D capability of SKL in wind power industry technology; explored the service orientation of wind power field; and established cooperative partnership with Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Group, laying great foundation for the development of CEI in the wind power field in the future.
