Standardization Expert of CEI Wins “IEC 1906 Award” Again

12-04

Recently, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) presented the 2020 “IEC 1906 Award” to Zou Jianqiang, a standardization expert from China National Electric Apparatus Research Institute Co., Ltd. (CEI), in recognition of his efforts to promote the substantial participation of third-party certification agencies in international standardization and his outstanding contribution to international standardization.

Established in 1906, the IEC is the world’s earliest international electrotechnical standardization organization responsible for international standard operations of electrical and electronic engineering. The “IEC 1906 Award”, one of the three major awards granted by the IEC, was established in 2004 by the IEC Executive Committee, with the aim of commemorating the IEC’s official establishment in 1906 and commending technical experts from various countries who have made outstanding contributions to international electrotechnical standardization in the IEC.

Since its establishment, the “IEC 1906 Award” has been granted to a total of about 1,000 experts from all over the world, yet most winners come from Europe, the US and other regions. By presenting this award to Mr. Zou Jianqiang, CEI has not only encouraged Mr. Zou’ s outstanding contribution to the international standardization of miniature fuses, but fully affirmed China’s contribution to the international standardization of fuses. That also shows that CEI has already taken the lead in the international standardization of miniature fuses.

Mr. Zou Jianqiang serves as International Secretary of the IEC/SC32C for Miniature Fuses and an expert of TC32/CAG, SC32C/MT9, MT10, MT14, responsible for developing international standards in miniature fuses. Presently, as project leader, Zou Jianqiang is working on revising IEC 60691, Part 1 of Thermal Links: Requirements and Application Guidelines and its corresponding national standard GB/T 9816.1-2013, Part 1 of Thermal Links: Requirements and Application Guidelines. Instead of adopting the practice of simply following the European and American thermal-link standards, Zou Jianqiang and his team revise the international and national thermal-link standards by considering the operating principles and characteristics of thermal-link products, relevant latest technologies, and China’s production and application experience in recent years, and fully playing CEI’s professional discipline and industrial advantages.

CEI boasts an excellent standardization expert team, of which 8 members are conveners of IEC work teams and more than 30 members are IEC registered experts. This is the third time a standardization expert from CEI has won such honor. It has reflected the achievements CEI has made in its continuous deep participation in IEC’s international standardization over the past 60-plus years. In the future, CEI will keep playing its talent advantage and utilizing a series of international standardization resources to drive Chinese companies to participate in international standardization. By doing so, CEI will promote Chinese standards to go global, improve China’s say in international standards, and impress the international technological community with quality Chinese-made products.
